Welcome to my new side blog project, Growing Little Leaves! This blog is dedicated to sharing books, movies, games, activities, and other tips to help little ones learn about family relationships and family history. In doing so, you'll find that you can use family history to gradually introduce concepts from other subjects, such as geography, general history, and mathematics.
Recently, my children, who are six and three years old, have seemed to develop more of an interest in learning about family history and relationships. Many of the tips and suggestions I will post about are applicable to children in roughly the 2-7 year range, and will take into account the following tenets:
1.) Young children are visual
2.) Young children are hands-on
3.) Young children generally have short attention spans
Disclaimer: I am not an official homeschooler, but I do enjoy using activities and opportunities at home to teach my children outside of the classroom. I hope that, if you do homeschool your children, some of my ideas may come in handy for you and your family.
I will continue to post regularly about my and my husband's personal family history on my main blog, The Spiraling Chains, but I do hope that you enjoy this new venture of mine!
